A mess of pottage is something immediately attractive but of little value taken foolishly and carelessly in exchange for something immensely more valuable.
In the Bible, the story of Esau and Jacob is a prime example. One day Esau came home very tired from a long day of hunting. He smelled the food Jacob was cooking and said, ‘I’m starving! Give me some of that red stew!’ Jacob said: ‘I will, but first promise me that I can have your inheritance.’ Esau said: ‘I don’t care about my inheritance! You can have it. I just want to eat.’ And just like that, Esau traded his inheritance – something immensely more valuable – for a mess of pottage – something of little value taken foolishly and carelessly.
Today, many Hispanics alike are trading their freedom and Christian values for a deceitful political party that intends to physically and mentally enslave them. In the deceptive name of ‘tolerance,’ and ‘the greater good,’ the Democrat party promotes the establishment of collectivism (big government control of the people) and amorality (anti-Christian behavior). Ironically, collectivism and amorality are two adversities most Hispanics claim to be fleeing from in their native countries.
During Trump’s presidency, a Spanish-syndicated radio show criticized Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui for being appointed as an advisor to President Trump. The criticism’s argument was directed at the actor’s Catholic religion. They asked, “How can a Guadalupano (Catholic) support the Republican president?” The Spanish-syndicated radio show traded their Christian values for a mess of pottage by ignoring the pro-life Catholic view in their criticism. Otherwise, the question they would have asked would have been, “How can a Guadalupano (Catholic) or any Christian vote for a Democrat who supports abortion?”
Recently, elections have been based on emotions rather than on facts. Truth, faith, and values don’t seem to matter to voters. Pro-Democrat news media propaganda and the silence of churches on this issue are heavily to blame. However, it is still the individual’s responsibility to do their research and avoid falling prey to the pro-Democrat leftist media. That is exactly what the pro-Democrat leftist media has become. ‘They’re not journalists. They’re not reporters. They’re leftist socialist activists posing as reporters to push their leftist socialist agenda.’
What are the values that each party represents? This is the real question.
Which party promotes amorality in sexualizing children? The Democrat party. And how do they do it? They hide behind the deceiving ‘equality’ progressive movement.
Which party supports taking guns away from citizens? The Democrat party. And how do they do it? They hide behind the deceiving ‘public safety’ progressive movement. Just as Fidel Castro did in Cuba.
Which party supports killing babies in the womb? The Democrat party. And how do they do it? They hide behind the deceiving ‘women’s rights’ and ‘reproductive rights’ progressive movements. In the Bible, Jeremiah 1:5 says, “I knew you even before I formed you in your mother’s womb; before you were born…” This scripture contradicts the anti-Biblical argument of the Democrat Party that a baby in the womb is not a being and therefore, they say, abortion is not killing a life. How can someone, especially a Hispanic who claims to be Christian, vote for a Democrat who supports abortion and afterward go to church with a clear conscience? Only by settling for a mess of pottage.
There are countless more examples.
A majority of Hispanics immigrated to the United States fleeing governments that made citizens dependent on these corrupt governments through socialist programs. Because what the government has the power to give to citizens, it also has the power to take away from citizens. This dependency on the government is anti-freedom. Now, with the countless socialist citizen-dependent policies on the Democrat agenda, Hispanics who vote for Democrats are voting for the same policies from which they fled.
The values of the Democrat party are conclusively not the values of the majority of Hispanics. Most Hispanics are Christian, and conservative, they value family, they value life, the dignity of work and they value the morality of their children. These are not the values of the Democrat party. However, the pro-Democrat leftist media intentionally omits the horrendous immoral and amoral values of the Democrat party. Rather, they unscrupulously mislead uninformed and unaware Hispanics by smearing Republicans.
Ignorance is bliss, but not without consequences. And the consequences are the loss of freedom for future generations. The lack of research on the anti-freedom and anti-moral nature of the Democrat party will lead Hispanics to sell their freedom and moral values as the Biblical character Esau, who sold his birthright for a simple mess of pottage – and afterwards, there will be nowhere else to go.
